Hereford is a city on the up; among the many changes taking place to stimulate its economy and to boost its attractiveness as a place to live and work, there’s the way we’re forging ahead to develop it as an internationally-recognised centre of excellence in educating the engineers of the future.
The New Model in Technology and Engineering (NMiTE) is a key to unlocking the economic potential of the whole county. With our first students, our “co-creators” who will help us develop and test our ground-breaking formula, joining us in just two years’ time, the pace is picking up; we are in the final stages of selecting a Vice Chancellor, developing strong links with national and regional businesses and working closely with the county’s primary and secondary schools.
NMiTE will be Britain’s first purpose-build university in 30 years. Already we are beginning to consider where the first campus buildings will be and how we’ll integrate NMiTE with Hereford’s existing educational, economic and cultural infrastructure and its community. We open our doors to our initial student intake in 2018 and over the next decade student numbers will grow to 5,000, so we’re also building links with partners in arts and sports, to fuse their offer into an enticing package for our students, who will also benefit from and contribute to the growing commercial and retail prosperity of our increasingly vibrant city.
Our plans will be transformational – for the city and for the whole of Herefordshire. Please join with us to contribute to our county’s future – whatever your interest, whether parents, prospective students, entrepreneurs, educators, we are keen to hear from you and from others and to encourage your ideas for getting involved with NMiTE.
