Hereford Times Talking Point – October 2015

Business networkers! Please help the university project unlock the economic potential of your county! We need members of the local business community to join forces with the team behind the New Model in Technology and Engineering (NMiTE) and be a part of our exciting plans to establish Herefordshire as an international centre of excellence in engineering education. Become a Business Ambassador for this pioneering project and help us extend our business network into Shropshire, Worcestershire, Powys, Monmouthshire and Gloucestershire. NMiTE already benefits from the support of many Herefordshire-based engineering businesses, including those who are members of our Founders’ Fund. Now we need help to develop strong, supportive relationships with engineering and related businesses outside the county. Ways we’d like them to engage range from agreeing to employ a university student as an intern, to offering jobs to our graduates; from providing real-life engineering projects for the classroom, to giving the university genuine, larger scale engineering problems which student teams will be challenged to solve at below industry rates.

You’ll be making a significant contribution to the success of this exciting project which is already forging ahead on all fronts. Involvement will also provide you with a “calling card” to senior business contacts you may already be seeking to engage with as well as new ones who aren’t on your business radar, but should be! Several of our existing ambassadors tell us how useful these opportunities have been.
